Anaerobic Digestion – Chino

May 24, 2017

$275

1 DAY, 8 AM – 4 PM, 0.7 CEUs. Like most wastewater treatment processes, more and more is being asked, and expected, of anaerobic digestion. There is increased emphasis on greater methane and energy production; new, more advanced, digestion systems are more highly loaded, and there is increased use of other feedstocks, besides raw and biological sludges, like FOG and food wastes. As a result, there is a need for a more in-depth understanding of the factors that affect anaerobic digester performance. While most of those factors aren’t in the digesters, operational control and monitoring are increasingly important. These are the subjects covered in this class. In addition, struvite formation, as both a nuisance and a resource, is discussed. This is not a class on digester design nor on equipment associated with digesters. While routine monitoring is discussed, the class does not delve into analytical methods and procedures. The class provides a whole-plant understanding of the importance of anaerobic digestion and what makes them work.
