As wastewater treatment moves toward resource recovery, the most basic of treatment plants will include primary clarification, activated sludge (aeration basins and secondary clarifiers), and anaerobic digestion. Each of these, then, is comprehensively covered in this class to give attendees the fundamental knowledge they need in fulfilling the operations professional’s personal mission statement: To remove pollutants from the incoming water while complying with all permits—water, air and land—and convert them to recyclable biosolids as sustainably and cost effectively as possible.
